Message from Rev. Telos for July-August 2025

Message From Rev. Telos

Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me.

I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.

Thich Nhat Hanh, Buddhist Peace leader, teacher, writer and Nobel Peace Prize winner

What an inspiring and uplifting variety of events in June! To walk in solidarity and joy in our Rural LGBTQ+ parade through the streets of Brattleboro with bubbles floating up and flags flying; to stand with you under our All Souls banner and listen to courageous words from leaders at the No Kings Rally, among 3,000 people! We celebrated the long and inspiring life of Esta Smith, and sang and danced on our lawn to celebrate the Solstice with Daniel, Sharon and Phil offering their familiar songs! We held our Community Pride Service, gratitude to all who participated, our expanded Choir and Director Tom B. for leading/ teaching anthems. And we held our last BAILA supper with community members. It was a full month with memories that will stay with me for a long time of community, of solidarity, of joy in coming together.

Yes, summer has arrived with the caress of gentle breezes, blue skies and hot sunshine, then flashes of lightning and sounds of thunder, the days and nights roll on. Relishing the sweet taste of ice cream and watermelon, cool taste of iced tea (or coffee!), time with family and friends, reading a new book and having time to ponder; being in the moments of living. We will gather for our Annual Picnic on Saturday, July 12th at the Rec. Center in Vernon, I hope to see you there to share a meal sitting at the picnic tables! Our summer worship services will offer a more relaxed, intimate, interactive experience so we hope you can join us.

Through all of the upheaval and uncertainty, struggle and chaos in the country and around the world, we need to take care of ourselves and each other. Please let us nurture strength of spirit, nourish our bodies and minds, enjoy times of lightheartedness and fun in these precious few days of summertime, it is important!

Blessings,  Telos
