Message from our President
There is so much energy and activity at All Souls Church! We are a vibrant community called to engagement and connection.
I am nurtured and nourished by the energy and commitment that so many people devote to planning and contributing to our inspiring services and beautiful music, to the care of our members and friends, our outreach and social justice commitments, the care of our building and grounds, and to the thoughtful conversations about a myriad of topics and so much more. I am able to contribute to some of these efforts – but not all – so I rely on our community to make it all work.
The health of our congregation is centered on the ministry we offer to one another. We have had a rich time of growth and renewal during our contracted ministry with Rev. Telos Whitfield. We now have the opportunity to deepen our relationship by calling Rev. Telos as our settled minister and developing a covenant with her for our joint ministry.
All members are asked to attend our Special Congregational Meeting to be held on Sunday, October 5, at 11:45 AM for the purpose of Calling Our Minister. Our quorum for this meeting is 50% of voting members. Please attend in person or by zoom (our deadline for designation of proxy was 9/30). Your vote is important!
As I reflect on September, I want to note the recent activities that required efforts by many people. So much appreciation to Marypat Stadtherr and Mary Moriarty for coordinating our fundraiser at the I-91 Welcome Center and to all who contributed time, food and beverages. What an inviting and generous way to welcome people to Vermont and to raise much needed funds for All Souls Church – $1485 at the time of this writing!
And many thanks to George Carvill and all who contributed to the success of the fundraising concert for Indivisible held later in the month. Our main hall and balcony were filled and close to $3000 was raised to support Indivisible’s local community organizing efforts. We have a dual need and desire to fundraise to support the health of our congregation and the wellbeing of the larger community. We will continue to do this through stewardship and pledging, share the plate collections, and special events.
Your participation is invited for several upcoming events: Book Reading and Presentation – All of You: A WWII Family Memoir of Love, Separation and Loss on Saturday October 4th Emma’s Revolution fundraising concert on Saturday, October 25th; and our Fall Clean-Up Day, with inside and outside projects, on Saturday November 1st. Weekly crafting is also in full swing in preparation for the December 6th Holiday Bazaar. Of course there are many other important gatherings as well as events in the planning stages so please check the calendar and E-News.
May we act together in faith, Leslie
