Message from Rev. Telos

“People say, what is the sense of our small effort?  They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time. A pebble cast into a pond causes ripples that spread in all directions. Each one of thoughts, words, and deeds is like that. No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There is too much work to do.”   Dorothy Day

Dear ones,

Yes, there is much work to do, but through our thoughts, words and deeds we are weaving our community together, and supporting the people and causes that call to us. We are living in a challenging and chaotic time where it takes courage to live our values, where our voices are needed, and being a welcoming and liberal faith community matters. We decide together how All Souls can meet the challenges, support our immigrant and refugee neighbors, counter hate and fear, and find joy in our time together. How were women, people throughout the history of this country and today able to find the courage and resolve to keep championing the cause of freedom and equality for over a century? And around the world, young women and elders are running small businesses, caring for their families, advocating for clean water and care for the earth, trying to escape violence, voices of freedom echoing around the world. It is always good to remember and find inspiration, courage from those who have come before.

May we transcend the heaviness of winter and the times we are living through by infusing our lives with joy and connection. Let us celebrate the Spring Equinox, sing and dance together on Friday, March 20th with Daniel K. and Sharon L.! Folks have begun creating gifts and crafts for our Spring Fair, our book group is up and running, 4th Sunday breakfasts continue and we strive to infuse our worship services with music, words and creativity to lift and connect us all.

We launch our Stewardship campaign in March, where we are each invited to make a pledge to support the work of All Souls. We will hear members in our worship services speak to what this congregation means to them. What does All Souls mean to you? I am honored to serve as your minister. You inspire me, and bring joy and meaning to my life and work. I am planning to make a pledge again this year to support our good work. Ministry is all that we do, together.

Blessings,

Rev. Telos
