Awakening Curiosity

I am looking at the Soul Matters materials for May.  The theme is awakening curiosity with exploration of how curiosity can be a bridge to what isn’t yet but could be –  a bridge to new ideas, new experiences, and even new ways of seeing ourselves and others.

What a great follow-up to April’s theme of embracing new possibilities.  At our Annual Meeting we will celebrate this past year, documented in our Annual Reports, but we will look towards the future – with a newly elected Board and with Reverend Telos as our Settled Minister.  Our congregation is growing.  I am curious about the ideas and energy brought by new members and the melding and exchange of experiences between newcomers and long-timers.

For the first time in a long time, we will start a new fiscal year in July having reached our Stewardship goal.  Our Treasurer and Finance Committee presented a proposed budget to the Board at our April meeting and we are confident of our proposed income.  A strong financial foundation provides stability to explore and dream about new ideas and visions.  We then have opportunities to choose which ideas we wish to bring to fruition. 

I still have visions that we will do more with our landscape design to create appealing outside spaces for gathering, meditation and for a memorial garden.  I also want to continue care of our building, with energy saving, user friendly doors and shingling to protect our exterior.  And of our course, I imagine more gatherings, an array of worshipful experiences, children of varying ages, and continued work for social justice which has always been critical to my involvement with All Souls Church.

       104th Annual Meeting of All Souls Church – Sunday May 17th at 11:30 after the Worship Service

Looking ahead, mark your calendars for the June 13th Installation Service for Reverend Telos.  We will have the opportunity to embrace and celebrate her and our shared ministry
