Join photographers Norm Oakes and Ann Newsmith to view their photography exhibit Faces of Mexico at a reception this Sunday, September 20, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. The show is on view at All Souls Church UU in West Brattleboro through mid-November.
The photographs portray the ordinary people the couple has met throughout Mexico over the past two decades…street vendors, artists, musicians, and families, at work and at play. They hope to convey the warm, open, accepting, dignified, and hard-working character of the Mexican people.
After working in black & white darkrooms half a century ago, Ann and Norm capture spontaneous moments using digital technology. Prior to moving to Vermont, Norm was a professional photographer, using medium-format equipment. Ann has a background in art history and has photographed her travels for decades.
The exhibit is open Tues and Thu, 9:00 – noon, Fri, 10 – 2, Sun, 11 – 12, and by appointment (802-257-4710).
