Writing Workshop:  Ekphrastic writing is the formal (and funky) Greek term for creative, descriptive writing triggered or prompted by a particular work of art – visual, music, etc.  The extraordinary artwork of Brattleboro’s Karen Becker is now on exhibit at the West Village Meeting House – All Souls Church.  Becker’s artwork is so evocative as to be a perfect jumping off place to inspire a poem, Haiku, story…or song!  Many museums and art centers now encourage writers to delve into a piece of art (or several) and use it as a tool for creative written expression.  Thursday July 29th, 2:30-4:30 pm or 5:30-7:30pm (One afternoon and one evening session). Attendance is limited.  ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS are WELCOME!  Simple supplies and snacks are provided but you may bring your own.  Facilitator for the workshop is Trish Murtha, career artist/instructor/writer, who some have called their “creative spark”!  $22 per person (some funding available if needed).  Reserve a space or ask questions by email at . Karen Becker will be available on Friday, June 30, from 4 to 6 pm, to discuss her artwork, and light refreshments will be served. Friday is the last day of this powerful retrospective of paintings, prints, and drawings.
