A Message from our President

Message from President Leslie

The Soul Matters theme from November was Nurturing Gratitude.  As the month closes there is much to be grateful for at All Souls Church.  We have a very caring, creative and engaged community. I want to offer appreciation to a number of people who supported various activities and projects in November.  As we know there are many unsung heroes so forgive me for not including all names or all activities!

  • Thanks to Carla and all the intrepid volunteers who helped with the Fall Clean-Up Day.  Many projects were completed inside and out.
  • Thanks to Kathy for her coordination and those who hosted Circle Dinners or Luncheons.  So wonderful to gather and get to know one another better.
  • Thanks to Ron and Steve for coordinating with electricians who have installed lights over both of our ramped entryways and at the West Wing door and for upgrading the clock and timer for outside lights.  These are much needed improvements which support safety for those coming and going at nighttime.  Much appreciation to our anonymous donors who made this work possible.
  • Thanks to Ron for coordinating with a contractor who will make improvements to our West Wing entry with a better step and railing, repair the rotted soffit over the bulkhead, and lay drainage pipes to take water away from entry to the furnace room.  We will be able to complete this work (hopefully before winter) due to another generous donation.  And thanks to Jamie for the temporary fix of laying plastic over the bulkhead door to keep out water.
  • Thanks to Ruth for coordinating with Rod Payne-Meyer to clean up our courtyard garden and lay heavier rocks alongside the entry walkway; the new rocks will no longer wash into the courtyard.
  • Thanks to all who were involved with the special Transgender Day of Remembrance.
  • Thanks to our crafters, artists, bakers and organizers who are preparing for this year’s Holiday Bazaar.  This event is a highlight that kicks off the holiday season for many in the community.

Of course we have our ongoing activities of worship, caring activities, small groups, committee and task force meetings.  Nothing would happen without the time and talent contributed by so many!

A few notes from our November Board meeting:

  • Our Treasurer Mia reports that our operating budget and cash flow is more solid than it was in the summer as people are paying their pledges regularly and a few people have paid in advance.  We are all stewards of All Souls Church and your financial support is essential and appreciated.
  • The Board approved the building improvements noted above as well as removal of dead trees along our driveway, a 2025-26 contract again with Travis Bristol for snow plowing and sanding, and a rental rate with Theatre Adventure for 2026.
  • Board members will be reviewing materials from the UUA regarding church safety and this will be a focus of our December Board meeting.  We also anticipate affirming the Covenant/Installation Task Force whose initial task is creation of a covenant with Rev. Telos for settled ministry.

With blessings to all as we enter this holiday season. May we act together in faith, Leslie
