In this lay-led service, Church member Martha Nelson will consider how this poet, living in 19th century Calvinist Amherst, forged a personal spirituality grounded in her felt experience of nature, hope, grief, joy, and love. An intuited sense of the divine residing in all of creation is the overriding theme of her poetry.
