WORSHIP – Sunday, May 12th at 10am

Sunday, May 12th: “Held In Her Arms”  led by Rev. Telos Whitfield

We honor and celebrate mothers, and the ones who offered us care and love, challenge and guidance. We honor the strength of women, and recall the legacy and call for Peace in 1870 that  echoes today.

Anthem on May 12th: “Let It Be” words and music by John Lennon and Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney wrote “Let It Be” after his mother, Mary, who died when he was 14, came to him in a dream. The encouraging message, “whispering words of wisdom,” has encouraged many over the ensuing years. Lennon didn’t like the song; it wasn’t “Beatles enough” in his opinion. Yet it became one of the most beloved Beatles ballads of all time. We sing it in honor of all mothers everywhere for Mothers Day.

Pre-Service activities at 9am – We hold our Religious Exploration Workshops for children of all ages and offer conversation and meditation.

OUR ANNUAL MEETING ON SUNDAY, MAY 19! Following our Worship Service, Building and Nurturing Our Community – A Year, Remembered! led by Rev. Telos Whitfield we will hold our Annual Meeting at 11:45am.

**If you need a Proxy Ballot, contact our Clerk, Carla Fogg by May 15th

FROM THE ART TEAM – NEW EXHIBITION!

We are partnering with Inclusive Arts Vermont and the long-awaited exhibit of artwork by 25 Vermont artists with disabilities is now on view in the foyer and the west wing hallway! In this “Cycles”exhibit artists explore cycles of nature, of the body, mind, and spirit, experiences of repetition, circular shapes, and more.

To ensure accessibility, each of the 27 works has verbal descriptions, and tactile representations accompany selected works. Materials are available in print, large print, Braille, audio, and digital formats. An artists’ reception is planned for Saturday, June 22, 3 – 5 p.m., and several artist talks and workshops are also planned, both online and in person throughout the summer.

Thanks to a hardworking team of Arts Committee and Inclusive Arts folks, the CYCLES exhibition was installed in our foyer and hallway yesterday! Following Theatre Adventure performances on May 16 and 17, additional artwork will go up in our Main Hall/ Sanctuary.

You can learn more about the show on the church website.

The CYCLES exhibition is more than art on the wall. Accessibility is an integral part of the show. In preparation, we are working to improve physical access to All Souls, both inside and outside, for people with disabilities. More information coming soon and also available at https://www.inclusiveartsvermont.org/exhibitions/cycles

Gratitude to everyone who helped with our Every Day Is Mother’s Day Concert And our Welcome Spring Fair. Thank you for all of the folks who created wonderful handmade gifts, crafts and food items, donated other items to sell, and helped with set up and clean up, and throughout the day. Both events were successful and inspiring!
