“Art Making–Go with the Flow!”

Lurking in any art studio behind brushes, paints, paper, mounds of clay, canvas, and unfinished work you’ll find a dented old box labeled “F is for Fear”.  Patrons and viewers of art are unaware that box exists because Gallery walls show only the results of risky, splendid, sacred moments when artists dare to ignore the box and instead bring skill and imagination together in daring, evolving processes. Et voila! It is displayed for all to see.  Come hear art makers tell us their tales. What can we learn about faith and life from their deeply amazing art journeys?

We anticipate that this service will be both in-person and on Zoom. Click right here Sunday shortly before 10:00 a.m. to join via Zoom. Click here to read our protocols

We acknowledge that each of us comes to this day with heart and mind filled with care and love for others, for justice and equality in our community and the world. During the service we invite you at any time to come light a candle and write in the book about your particular joy, sorrow, or concern.

Opening Hymn #108: “How Can I Keep from Singing”
“My life flows on in endless song above earth’s lamentation.
I hear the real though far off hymn that hails a new creation.
Through all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing.
It sounds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing!

What though the tempest ’round me roars, I know the truth, it liveth.
What though the darkness ’round me close, songs in the night it giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm while to that rock I’m clinging.
Since love prevails in heav’n and earth, how can I keep from singing!

When tyrants tremble as they hear the bells of freedom ringing,
when friends rejoice both far and near, how can I keep from singing!
To prison cell and dungeon vile our thoughts to them are winging;
when friends by shame are undefiled, how can I keep from singing!”

Closing Song  “Rainbow Connection”  Paul Williams & Kenneth Ascher
Performed by Eden Gorst & Daniel Kasnitz

“Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it
I know they’re wrong wait and see

Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
Look what it’s done so far
What’s so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?

Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me”
